OC Salsa offers 10-minute one-on-one sessions after classes.
These mini private lessons serve three purposes:
Get feedback, ask specific questions, and work with a professional teacher to improve your dancing in a personalized way.
Work with an instructor to prepare for an evaluation to move from one level to another.
Take an official evaluation to advance to the next level.
These sessions are booked at the front desk on Mon, Tues, Thurs, and Fridays (Fridays are only for feedback and preparation to evaluate. No evaluations are given on Fridays because of the social after classes).
Evaluations
Students can evaluate to move from Beginner Level 1 → Beginner Level 2, Beginner Level 2 → Intermediate, and Intermediate → Advanced.
Evaluations are first come, first served with limited spots per day.
In these sessions, the instructor will EVALUATE and test your skills to determine if you are ready to move up.
Guidelines for One-on-One Sessions
All bookings are done at the front desk (not with the instructors). Instructors are assigned based on availability. Students cannot choose their evaluator.
To EVALUATE, you must have practiced, studied, and mastered all the steps and techniques from your current level.
Pay the fee and start at the assigned time ($20 members / $25 non-members). No punch cards accepted.
Once booked, you will receive an Evaluation Worksheet to give to the instructor.
The instructor will ask you to perform 3 random steps from your current level by yourself. It is important to know the names of the steps and how to execute them correctly.
The test is based on the syllabus steps and ALL techniques from your current level.
Afterward, the instructor will dance with you to test your TIMING, CONNECTION, and LEAD/FOLLOW skills.
Results
If you pass, the instructor will:
✅ Approve you to advance to the next level and give you a Completion Certificate. If you don’t pass, the instructor will:
